    Jewelery Designer

Xenia Nefelly Vlachou, born in 15 April of 1983,  is the  designer and creator of the brand Marmarometry.

Her studies began in Athens and continued in Rome at the “Accademia di Costume e di Moda”, with a major in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing. After that, she worked in Greek fashion companies as a designer, and as a teacher in a fashion academy.

In 2009, after attending jewellery seminars, she created and presented her first jewellery brand, Props, and in 2015 the brand Marmarometry. Since then her jewellery are placed in more than 30 stores through wholesale, in Greece and abroad.

In 2015 she participated with success in the competition of the Archaeological Receips Fund (ARF). As of January 2016 an exclusive jewellery collection, the “Marmarometry Museum Collection” was displayed at the ARF’s points of sale, in museums throughout Greece.

In 2015 she opened a jewellery store “F/A/D”  in Naousa Paros, with the jewellery designer Alexandros Lagos.

Marmarometry was presented for the first time in the Greek market in January 2015, trying to combine the ancient Greek element with the modern one. Leading material is the Greek marble, in minimal style with geometric lines, existing harmoniously with sterling silver and gold. It is an alternative concept in jewellery, which aims to strengthen the Greek element & design.

Philosophy

In ancient Greece marble was considered a precious stone, and was used in jewellery. 2000 years after, I  tried to incorporate modern jewellery-making technics, so as to create precious metal jewellery with marble as their main theme, in shapes that remind of some ancient Greek masterpieces. The purpose of that was to remind people that innovation and originality lives in our roots and our hearts, and that things that make us Greeks are still around us.

In 2015, I won the contest of Archaeological Receipts Fund, by designing three “Marmarometry” exclusive designs that had the privilege of being displayed in the sale points of the museums in Greece.

In 2017, I won the “First Design Award” at the category of “Solid Metal” at the jewellery exhibition of “A Jewel Made In Greece”, that took place at Zappeion Megaron, Athens Greece.

In April of 2017 was the beginning of my collaboration with the store of the Cycladic Museum.

“Marmarometry” is the chance for someone to keep a genuine piece of Greece with her, on her. In my shop at Paros island, I have met hundreds of people traveling to Greece from abroad, who are really interested in Greek civilization, art, history and craftmanship. Each one who buys a piece of the collection travels with it to all sides of the globe. In the gift box there is always a card that calls everyone to sign the petition for the return of the Parthenon marbles to their birthplace.

Hopefully, my inspiration by Ancient Greek Architecture and  the Cycladic art, becomes a small piece of Greece in my customers’ hearts.
